wait for what?

Why are we getting married in less than 2 weeks? Well, great question! Here’s the answer:

10 days after we met, Joe told me I was his wife. Most girls would be taken aback by such a bold statement. I wasn’t.

Why?

When I was praying to God about my future mate, I asked Him to let my husband recognize me as his wife before I had any inclination that I was, in fact, his wife. I also met with my pastor before leaving Brooklyn for Atlanta and he basically told me that I’d meet my husband in Atlanta.

So when Joe made that statement, I challenged him to fast and pray with me for 10 days so that God would reveal to me whether he really was my husband. Let’s just say that God confirmed, reconfirmed, and made it very clear that Joe was, in fact, my soulmate.

We began a courtship and started taking premarital classes at our church before we were even engaged to ensure that we sought God’s direction for our future. When we finished the class in April, we felt like God was calling us to get married sooner rather than later. So we did what we know best to do: prayed about it.

In a prayer meeting at church the week that we were heavily praying about when we should get married, the pastor said something he had never said before. He said, “God, let these young people get married. They want to wait, but wait for what?!”

Yea… we both felt like God was talking to us. Right before the pastor said that, I felt God drop a date in my spirit: July 13, 2013. I told Joe after the meeting that I thought that was the date God wanted us to get married. Then we looked at the calendar. It was a Saturday. It was also the halfway mark between us meeting for the first time (July 1st) and beginning our official courtship (July 26th).

So, why are we getting married in less than 2 weeks? God told us to do so 🙂
